This page has been setup to allow us to better serve you with your rental instrument renewal and/or return process.
   
         
   
For OCDSB students.
The last day of classes (as per the OCDSB) for elementary students is Thursday, June 30th, 2016.
The last day of classes (as per the OCDSB) for secondary students is Friday, June 17th, 2016. (exams run until June 27th)
Mikes Music hires extra staff to help and assist with the return or renewal of instruments. If you are not able to return the instrument by 5:00pm on June 24th, returning the instrument the next day, June 25th, will not incur any extra fee. Please call us at 613-727-6453 if you are not able to return the instrument by end of day, Friday, June 24th and you plan on returning it Saturday, June 25th before 3:00pm. The first day of school for 2016 / 2017 is September 6th.

Your rented instrument is due to be returned on (or before) JUNE 26th, 2015. If the instrument is no longer required and it is possible to return the instrument sooner, it is highly recommended as this will help us to better serve you. If you plan on returning the instrument on June 26th, and there is a line up, please be patient. Each return can take as little as 3 minutes, and as much as 20 minutes. Please ensure that all accessories provided are returned with the instrument. Any missing accessories will require payment if you wish to return the instrument with missing items. Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, and Saturdays from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
   
         
   

GRADE 6 or GRADE 7 STUDENTS Almost in every case, if your child is presently in grade 6 or 7, the same instrument will be required for next year. The music teacher is able to build a strong music program when the student continues through the following year(s) with the SAME instrument. With this in mind, on very rare occasions, the student may be permitted to change instruments. The request for a change of instrument should be discussed with the music teacher. In most cases, the same instrument is required for the following year(s).

   
         
   

PLEASE NOTE: It is your responsibility to return the instrument to Mikes Music.
DO NOT leave the instrument with the music teacher at the school.

RENEWALS
If you would like to renew the same instrument for the NEXT school year, (September 2016 - June 2017), the summer months of July and August 2016, will be FREE!! This offer is available to all our rental customers! NOTE: Even if you will require the same instrument for the following school year, we do ask that the instrument STILL be returned on or before the due date for the free annual maintenance. Priority service will be given to all renewing rental customers. When you come in, you will be asked if you require the instrument for the following year. If so, your instrument will be serviced right away! Last year, most renewal instruments were serviced right away, while you waited. Otherwise, they will be ready for pickup within one week. Our goal is to provide you with the same turn-around-time service. Some parents may require the instrument for their child's summer camp. If you are renewing, let us know if you will require the instrument for summer camp. We will do our very best to meet your timely needs. Summer months are free when you renew for the following school year.
   
         
   
RENEWALS - Plan Ahead And Beat The Rush!
If you are renewing, we can service your instrument before the rush. We encourage it, and we'll always try to service it while you wait. We ask that you check with your child's schedule to determine when the instrument may not be required for one or two days. Our target is to service it while you wait. Most of the time, the instrument can be serviced while you wait. Starting Wednesday, June 1st, 2016, we will be able to provide the free annual maintenance service. Contact us at 613-727-6453 to let us know when you would be coming in so that we can service it while you wait. This will not only prepare it for the next school year, but will also have the instrument working properly for any upcoming playing exams and/or performances. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us. PLEASE NOTE Billing for the 2016/2017 school year will be processed the day of the maintenance. Plan ahead, and beat the return-due-date rush!! Summer months are free when you renew for the following school year.
   
         
   
RENEWALS - Two Additional Time-Savers!
1. If you are renewing, we can have all the paper work prepared ahead of time for you and ready for pickup when you come in to have the instrument serviced. Please give us a call at 613-727-6453 between 8:30am and 5:00pm on weekdays, and between 9:00am and 3:00pm on Saturdays. Have your credit card ready, and if possible, your rental contract number when you call us.
2. If you are not able to bring in the instrument for its annual maintenance during the first week of June, but you do require the same instrument for the 2016/17 school year, and you want to renew the rental for another year, we can renew the contract over the phone, and then, at a later date, you could bring the instrument in for its annual maintenance and checkup. We would like to do the maitenance BEFORE the beginning of the 2016/17 school year. Even though its renewed, we still ask that you bring in the instrument for an annual maintenance and checkup. Regular preventative maintenance helps with the overall performance of a musical instrument.
PLEASE NOTE - Payment for 2016/2017 renewals can not be accepted before June 1st, 2016. Summer months are free when you renew for the following school year.
   
         
   
REDUCED RENTAL RATES WILL CONTINUE FOR 2016/ 2017 !!
Three years ago, all our instrument rental rates were reduced!! As an example, those instruments at the 110.00 per year rate (like the clarinet, trumpet, trombone, flute) had been reduced to 90.00 per year! We're happy to say the reduced rates will continue! We are aiming to always provide the lowest rental rate available in the Ottawa area!

We are STILL working towards automating the rental process with the hope of reducing the costs of renting even FURTHER.
